Asher lapsteel

I was lucky enough to meet Bill Asher owner of Asher Guitars at the Burbank amp show over a year ago.

I mentioned that I play lapsteel and he told me that he custom builds them.  (His clients include Ben Harper and Robert Randolph).

We finally connected last month and it turns out that his shop is right down the street from me!

I actually met up with him with the intention of getting a regular six string guitar when I noticed a lapsteel sitting in his shop with a “B” and “G” string bender (I have been looking for one of these for a while).

We decided on a color (tobacco sunburst) and I got a hold of a couple of Seymour Duncan pickups(The pickups are  El Diablo, bridge and neck.)

Solid covers were put on to give the guitar a more vintage look.  I also put a push/pull coil splitter for a single coil sound option.  He added the Hipshot bender and “BAM!” it was done!

The guitar looks and sounds great!

I’ll be putting together a video with some sound samples!
