2012 NAMM show highlights!
Well another NAMM show has come and gone and I honestly have to say that I had a great time at this year’s event. Perhaps because I only attended 2 out of the 4 days! On Thursday I got there and headed straight to the Seymour Duncan booth where I said “Hi” to all the folks that work there including the boss Seymour himself! At 3pm I was joined onstage by Alastair Green (blues guitar player from Santa Barbara, CA.
I was playing a “loaner” strat which performed well – the pickups were Custom staggered SSL-5 and sounded great through a 65 amp.
Sunday I got to check out some booths – James Trussart guitars are one of my favorites and he introduced a really cool dobro this year AND also I ran into my old buddy Trace Ritter. Trace is a great guitar player most notably from the band “Chalk Farm”
Another cool display was the Ibanez Tube Screamer 40 year display of all the pedals and their versions through the years. Since I’m a big fan I really dug this!
All in all a great show – unfortunately because of my gigging schedule I didn’t catch any of the NAMM jams but I heard they were great! T Rex had some great new pedals, Matchless amps and Carr amps had some new models worth checking out. Lot’s of stuff! Sometimes overwhelming but the folks are always really cool!
